He Okwonko sprang to his feet as soon as he the Identity of Law saw who it was. "A Conversation with Chinua Achebe ". As a young man he defeated the village's best wrestler, earning him lasting prestige. He was a man of action and a man of war. Okonkwo is the son of the gentle and lazy Unoka, a man he resents for his weaknesses. Okonkwo is unable to adopt to the changes that accompany colonialism. Ezinma, the Crystal Beauty, is very much the antithesis of a normal woman within the culture and Okonkwo routinely remarks that she would've made a much better boy than a girl, even wishing that she had been born as one. Ikemefuna is placed in Okonkwos care and for three years the lad is treated like one of his children. It is seen as the archetypal modern. She receives severe beatings from Okonkwo just like his other wives; but unlike them, she is known to talk back to Okonkwo.
